Piecemeal Plants Nursery in Nottinghamshire

Welcome to Piecemeal Plants

History

After many enjoyable years propagating plants - to give to friends or sell to raise funds for various charities - a long-standing ambition to open our own nursery was realised in 2009. For fourteen happy years, this operated from a courtyard at Whatton House near Kegworth in north-west Leicestershire, thanks to the generosity of its owners, Lord and Lady Crawshaw.

Sadly, in late 2021, the nursery site was demolished to make way for a refreshments area for visitors to events, and, since then, the nursery has been ‘homeless’ and all stock put into store.

A move to new premises is anticipated in spring 2022. Further details to follow.

Our Plants

We grow a wide range of hardy herbaceous perennials, although the majority in small numbers. Our database lists the majority and we aim to update it at regular intervals. Many of our plants are unusual, although we also offer traditional cottage garden varieties, and most are not difficult to grow. In addition, a small selection of shrubs, flowering bulbs and less hardy plants is normally available.

Visitors are very welcome to browse - please note, at present, by arrangement only - without commitment to buy, and to ask for care and planting advice.

Prices are very reasonable - not like those in many garden centres where, in any case, you are unlikely to find such a wide variety!

Most of our stock is sold in 9cm, 1 litre, 1.5 litre or 2 litre pots and ranges from around £3.80 to £7. You may find that a few special or much larger ones, including a few shrubs, are a little more.
