Acanthus spinosus

Large, deeply lobed and spine-tipped, dark glossy green leaves. Spikes of white flowers with spiny purplish bracts.

Flowering period:  Late spring and summer.
Growing conditions:  Sun or part shade. Most soils except clay.
Special note:  Good drought tolerance.
Typical mature height:  48 inches ( 122 cms )
Hardiness:  Hardy. Should withstand average to cold UK winters.
